Sun   Day 01      AUSTRALIA / KUALA LUMPUR

Depart from you capital city late evening for your flight to Kuala Lumpur with Malaysian Airlines.

Mon  Day 02      KUALA LUMPUR / LABUAN

Arrive Kuala Lumpur early morning, and after clearing Customs & Immigration make your way to the Domestic Terminal for your flight to Labuan 0855/1120. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay. In the afternoon you will be taken on a sightseeing tour of the island, including a visit to Surrender Point, where the Japanese Armed Forces surrendered at the end of World War II. The island is also a duty-free centre, an duty-free goods of all descriptions can be obtained at reasonable prices.

Tue  Day 03      LABUAN / KOTA KINABALU

After breakfast you will be transferred to the port for a boat trip accross the South China Sea to Kota Kinabalu. The voyage takes approximately three hours and you travel in the airconditioned first-class section of the boat. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your resort for a two-night stay. Set in beautiful landscaped gardens overlooking the beach, the resort offers a number of optional boat excursions to the outlying islands in the South China Sea.

Wed  Day 04      KOTA KINABALU

After breakfast you will be taken on a short orientation tour of the city, including the Poh Toh Tze Temple, the main mosque and the Sabah Museum. Included is a drive up Signal Hill, which offers excellent panoramas of the city and the South Cina Sea. Balance of the day free. Kota Kinabalu has excellent tailors and a number of handicraft centres. Your resort offers a regular shuttle bus service to the city.

Thu  Day 05      KOTA KINABALU / SANDAKAN

After breakfast you depart by airconditioned bus to Sandakan. The journey is very scenic, and the road rises to over 4,000 feet. You travel along the foot of Mt Kinabalu , South-East Asia's highest mountain, and you may be able to see the "Rafflesia" which is the largest flower in the world and more than one metre in diameter. Being a parasitic plant, they are rarely seen in flower and burst into bloom briefly on rare occasions in the Raffleasia Forest Reserve. You arrive in Sandakan late afternoon, and in the evening make your way up the mountain for dinner. Sandakan is famous for its seafood, but other dishes are available.

Fri  Day 06      SANDAKAN / SEPILOK

Morning sightseeing tour of Sandakan, including the markets. Mid-morning departure for Sepilok, where your lodge is situated on the banks of a small lake. Accommodation is in individual airconditioned chalets. In the afternoon you walk to the Orang-Utan rehabilitation centre to watch the feeding of these great apes.

Sat  Day 07      SEPILOK / SAKAU

After breakfast you will be transferred back to Sandakan for a visit to the Australian War Memorial. Recently renovated and expanded, the museum commemorates the infamous "Sandakan Death March" of World War II. After sightseeing you travel by boat across the lagoon and down the Kinabatangan River to your lodge, where you arrive for lunch. After lunch you commence your game- viewing activities by travelling on a smaller boat down Sabah's largest river and its tributaries. The Borneo jungle has unique wildlife, including the famous Proboscis monkey, elephant, mouse deer (the world's smallest anelope) wild cat and many other species. The birdlife is varied and interesting with eight types of hornbill. After your game-viewing cruise you return to the lodge for dinner, and in the evening there is a wildlife audiovisual presentation.
Sukau Rainforest Lodge (Dinner & Breakfast)

Sun  Day 08      Sukau

Morning game viewing by boat, including a visit to the Oxbow Lake. In the afternoon visit the Gomantong Caves where birds nests are collected and exported to China. More than 100 metres in height, the caves house over two million swiftlets whose nests have been prized for centuries as a delicacy. After sightseeing you return to your lodge for dinner.

Mon  Day 09      SUKAU / KOTA KINABALU

Early morning game viewing by boat, after which you return to your lodge for breakfast. Mid-morning departure for Sandakan by boat, and after lunch you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Kota Kinabalu. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your resort for a two-night stay. This unique beachfront property is located 25 kms north of the capital and incorporates a wildlife sanctuary. The 20-hectare virgin jungle area includes a game viewing platform, and the sanctuary contains most species of Borneo wildlife, including Orang-Utans.

Tue  Day 10      KOTA KINABALU

Free day to enjoy and relax at your resort. You may wish to visit the wildlife sanctuary or play a round at the nearby golf course. The resort also operates a regular shuttle bus to Kota Kinabalu for a minimal fee.

Wed  Day 11      KOTA KINABALU / KUALA LUMPUR

After an early lunch you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Kuala Lumpur 1545/1810. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel for a two-night stay.

Thu  Day 12      KUALA LUMPUR

Free day in Kuala Lumpur, during which time you may wish to visit the world's tallest buildings, the Petronas Towers, the National Museum or the Jamek Mosque. There is also excellent shopping in Kuala Lumpur, and a visit to the Night Markets offers many a bargain.

Fri  Day 13      KUALA LUMPUR / AUSTRALIA

After an early breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Australia, where you arrive early evening.
